Tale from an Errand

Just back from the Post Office and what a great errand it was. Not only did they take my money:), but I also had the opportunity to meet Joannie. After some friendly conversation and some discussion about what we both did for a living she began telling me about the past few months and her journey to purchase a RV.

Here is how it went. Initially, they were looking for a cottage, but found them to be pricy. She then saw a television ad for a local RV show. She attended and also attended some other shows out of the area. Her desire was to purchase locally (30 miles) for future service needs. At the shows she collected literature/cards from dealers and walked away confused about manufacturers, makes, light-weight, etc... She then turned to the Internet for answers. First, she visited all the dealer websites that were on the literature she had picked up. She said she only found inventory and no information to help her find what was right for her on the dealer sites so she began searching in search engines. It took her a few weeks of searching online but she finally found the information she was looking for. She then called 3 local dealers. Of the 3 only 1 called her back and guess what? That is where she bought her new fithwheel with bunks.

So, what does this tell us...

1. People are using the Internet to shop for RVs.
2. Most RV Dealer websites are lacking in having the right information.
3. The Internet can be a huge support system in RV Dealers marketing efforts.

If you don't believe in the Internet as a valuable marketing tool, maybe you should now. The major search engines have been talking about local search for a bit now and there is much potential for your business in the that playing field. In a nutshell, the search engines are becoming an interactive yellow pages. Watch for more info on this subject!
