It's Sunday afternoon and I decided to check my email, I guess that's about as normal as checking phone messages anymore. To my suprise there was an email from a client ... saying something like In Loving Memmory Of. Now, my contact at this client is Lobo Brydson and he is a happy go lucky kinda guy. I frequently receive jokes from Lobo, so I treated this one no differently. That is until I read the contents.
The email was from Lobo's email account, but was coming from his boss, letting everyone know that Lobo had been killed in a motorcycle accident just yesterday.
News of someone passing on never comes at a good time, nor is it rarely expected. This one was of paticular shock because it was an accident and his passing seems pre-mature.
Immediately, it reminded me of all those that I have not shared the hope that lies within me with. All those that may not know of Jesus and what He did for you and me.
So, I ask you...
Do you consider yourself a good person? Have you ever broken one of the ten commandments? I know I have, so ask yourself ... have you ever lied? What does that make you? Have you ever stolen anything, even something seemingly insignificant? What does that make you? In the Bible/Old Testament it says that having a relationship outside of marriage is considered adultery. However, in the Bible/New Testament it says that whoever looks at another person with lust has committed adultery in his heart already. Have you ever looked at another person with lust? What does that make you? If you are anything like me, you've admitted to yourself that you are a lying, thieving, adulter at heart.
We've only looked at 3 out of the 10 Commandments, but if God were to judge according to just those three would you be innocent or guilty? Guilty of course. God, being the righteous judge that He is has sentenced us to an eternity in hell.
Does that concern?
Because God is a righteous judge and has demanded punishment for our guilt/sin ... just at this moment Jesus steps in and says God, I have paid the penalty for his crime/guilt. I led a sinless life here on earth for 33 years and they whipped me, pushed thorns into my head, and nailed me to a wooden cross. I was crucified and because of my death I have paid the penalty/punishment for their crime/guilt.
All Jesus asks of you and I is that we believe that He paid our fine and accept Him as our redeemer/saviour and then God gives us life after death in Heaven. If you want to believe and accept Jesus as your savior from an eternity in hell pray a prayer like this ... Dear God, thank you for sending your son, Jesus to pay the fine/penalty for my sins/crimes. Please forgive me of my sins. I believe in Jesus. I accept him as my savior. If you just prayed that prayer I am so excited for you.
The natural response when someone does good for us is to want to pay them back for their kindness. Now, we can't pay Jesus back for what He has done for us but we can learn more about Him and we do that by reading the Bible and gathering with others who are also grateful for what Jesus has done for them.
So, I encourage you to get a Bible and start reading. A great place to start is in the book John in the New Testament. Find a good Church/gathering of believers like yourself, to visit. If you have more questions please comment here on this blog or visit
