Staying True to Your Core

What are you all about? What are you really good at? What makes you tick? What keeps your mental gears turning when you are supposed to be sleeping? Add all these up and you should get something that will help define your core. Whether it be your individual core or your business core.

From a business standpoint I learned a self-shaming lesson in keeping true to my core. Nearly three months ago we took on a project with a company that has nothing to do with the RV Industry. To make a long story short, we were plenty busy with our 'core business work' that we just couldn't muster the resources to pull the project together and finish it well. After talking it over with my most trusted advisor (my wife:) and thinking it through for a few days I picked up the phone and gave the dreaded phone call.

Was this client mad? No, and I am grateful that they understood for the most part. However, it was a great lesson/reminder that it is important to stay true to your core.

Until next time...

Logical Evidence of Life After Death

It's Sunday afternoon and I decided to check my email, I guess that's about as normal as checking phone messages anymore. To my suprise there was an email from a client ... saying something like In Loving Memmory Of. Now, my contact at this client is Lobo Brydson and he is a happy go lucky kinda guy. I frequently receive jokes from Lobo, so I treated this one no differently. That is until I read the contents.

The email was from Lobo's email account, but was coming from his boss, letting everyone know that Lobo had been killed in a motorcycle accident just yesterday.

News of someone passing on never comes at a good time, nor is it rarely expected. This one was of paticular shock because it was an accident and his passing seems pre-mature.

Immediately, it reminded me of all those that I have not shared the hope that lies within me with. All those that may not know of Jesus and what He did for you and me.

So, I ask you...

Do you consider yourself a good person? Have you ever broken one of the ten commandments? I know I have, so ask yourself ... have you ever lied? What does that make you? Have you ever stolen anything, even something seemingly insignificant? What does that make you? In the Bible/Old Testament it says that having a relationship outside of marriage is considered adultery. However, in the Bible/New Testament it says that whoever looks at another person with lust has committed adultery in his heart already. Have you ever looked at another person with lust? What does that make you? If you are anything like me, you've admitted to yourself that you are a lying, thieving, adulter at heart.

We've only looked at 3 out of the 10 Commandments, but if God were to judge according to just those three would you be innocent or guilty? Guilty of course. God, being the righteous judge that He is has sentenced us to an eternity in hell.

Does that concern?

Because God is a righteous judge and has demanded punishment for our guilt/sin ... just at this moment Jesus steps in and says God, I have paid the penalty for his crime/guilt. I led a sinless life here on earth for 33 years and they whipped me, pushed thorns into my head, and nailed me to a wooden cross. I was crucified and because of my death I have paid the penalty/punishment for their crime/guilt.

All Jesus asks of you and I is that we believe that He paid our fine and accept Him as our redeemer/saviour and then God gives us life after death in Heaven. If you want to believe and accept Jesus as your savior from an eternity in hell pray a prayer like this ... Dear God, thank you for sending your son, Jesus to pay the fine/penalty for my sins/crimes. Please forgive me of my sins. I believe in Jesus. I accept him as my savior. If you just prayed that prayer I am so excited for you.

The natural response when someone does good for us is to want to pay them back for their kindness. Now, we can't pay Jesus back for what He has done for us but we can learn more about Him and we do that by reading the Bible and gathering with others who are also grateful for what Jesus has done for them.

So, I encourage you to get a Bible and start reading. A great place to start is in the book John in the New Testament. Find a good Church/gathering of believers like yourself, to visit. If you have more questions please comment here on this blog or visit www.livingwaters.com.

What Exactly are Breadcrumbs?

It has been a crazy week with my wife getting really ill and them being such a giver and sharing it with me. I did agree to better and worse, so it's fair game:)

It never fails that getting sick seems to coincide with being extremely busy. Good news is that it forces one to slow down and my choice is to look at things in perspective. Not let it eat away at me while I'm laying, groaning wishing the hammer pounding the side of my head would just mysteriously go away.

Enough of my series of unfortunate events and onto breadcrumbs. These things used to be worthless bits of bread in the bottom of the bread bag. Similar to what techies did to cookies we have done with breadcrumbs.

So what are these things? To put it as simply as possible they are:

Words as links typically near the top of a web page content that gives you a trail of where you have been just in case you wanted to get back. They can be very useful while surfing, especially if you wanted to go backwards say 3 or 4 clicks. For the scientific definition and study of breadcrumbs try Angela Colter's case study here.
